It turns out that the ladies in charge of Meritage are f**king awesome. Like for serious. They care about all the food and whether you have a good time. In tonight, our first visit after the commitment, it turns out we met Joe and Vivian. Vivian has been a resident of Rittenhouse since 1957. She met her husband wearing an eyelit sweater while walking her dog. He wanted to see the "peek girl" again. It was arranged. Soon after, he asked he on a date and came especially early. She didn't think much of it. Turns out they ended up at the justice of the peace. She couldn't imagine anyone else she would rather marry. Her love was for serious. She hasn't found or wanted to find anyone since. I can sympathize with her sentiment. After M i can't imagine wanting anyone else in my life. I'd rather be lonely. Who could match my intensity? love me for my crazy? feed my need for all the trappings of passion....?
So thank you to Irene and Michelle for having a great neighborhood spot to meet people who are awesome. And thanks to Vivian, who told me an excellent story, is healthy and active at 90, having dinner with her gay tenant regularly. Hope on top.
